All Trains Depart and Return to Steller, Alberta. Special event excursions include steam or diesel-powered rail excursion lasting between six, and six and one-half hours, upscale buffet meal, on board and special entertainment. The destination for Alberta Prairie excursions is Big Valley. This community was the divisional point for the Canadian Northern Railway in the early 1900s. Featured attractions include the restored railway station, the roundhouse interpretive centre, St. Edmund’s Church, McAlister Motors Museum, a Tool Museum and the Jimmy Jock Boardwalk market.
Riding the rails on a School Special will not only provide students the unique experience of train transportation, but will also offers a wide range of educational opportunity involving Canadian heritage and the geography of the region.
