Excursion Policies

Because of the nature of what it is we offer Alberta Prairie Railway is not able to provide alternative menu choices. Over the years what we have found is that guests find the buffet more than amble with lots of choices. In special circumstances, and as an alternative to the meat dish offered, guests can request a quality vegan burger as an alternative by pre-ordering at time of booking.

Train robberies are scheduled on all excursions travelling to Big Valley with the exception to Teddy Bear Specials and Murder Mysteries. The Reynolds Raiders, a gang of mounted bandits, rob guests of loose change. The money is donated to Alberta children’s charities.

Alberta Prairie reserves the right to substitute excursions to destinations other than those shown in this schedule and to use alternative motive of power in case of mechanical failure.

Alberta Prairie offers a full range of day trips aboard a vintage train.  All excursions originate & return to Stettler and include a stop at Alberta Prairie Railway’s Country Hideaway at Warden Junction or The Village of Big Valley unless another destination is indicated. Alberta Prairie reserves the right to substitute excursions to destinations other than those shown in this schedule and to use alternative motive of power in case of mechanical failure. All inclusions are subject to change without notice, discount, or refund should circumstances arise which prevent delivery of such things as train robberies.

RESERVATIONS ARE RECOMMENDED

Reservations can be arranged by phone using MasterCard or VISA. Although we can usually accommodate passengers without reservations, we do sell out and a reservation guarantees seating.

Dinners are buffet style, served at the hall in the Village of Big Valley and are prepared by the people of that community. Meals usually include either Alberta beef, roast turkey or home cooked and sliced ham, turkey and beef, plus potatoes, rolls, salads, vegetables and dessert.

Alberta Prairie recommends that you allow yourself enough time for a leisurely drive to Stettler – one hour from Red Deer, two and one-half hours from Edmonton, three hours from Calgary, five hours from Saskatoon, three and one-half hours from Lloydminster, and three and one-half hours from Kindersley.

All sales are final and there are no refunds with less than 48 hours’ notice.
