Alberta Prairie Railway offers a wide variety of excursions aboard a vintage train travelling south of Stettler to the Village of Big Valley or the Country Hideaway. Climb aboard and experience the thrill of a train whistle echoing across the bast prairies, and maybe even catch a glimpse of wildlife.
The notorious Reynold’s Raiders outlaw Gang has been known to rob guests of their loose change. Any monies raised are donated to Alberta Children’s Charities. Train robberies are scheduled on all excursions excluding Teddy Bear Specials, School Specials, Murder Mysteries, Pumpkin Fest, and the Polar Express.
Alberta Prairie Railway reserves the right to use alternative power in the event of mechanical failure.
Roast Beef Dinner to Big Valley
This round-trip train journey travels to the Village of Big Valley and includes live entertainment on board, a full-course buffet-style Roast of Beef Dinner served at the community hall in Big Valley. Murder Mysteries
Unlike traditional stage shows, this Murder Mystery is interactive and casual. Everything starts out on the train as you travel to the Village of Big Valley, where actors mingle with guests, break the ice with hilarious scenes, and start dropping hints. Upon arrival in Big Valley, you will be invited to make your way to the community hall to enjoy an upscale buffet-style barbecued 6 to 8 oz Canadian AA steak, chuckwagon beans, baked potato, caesar salad, and dessert. Once dinner is served, the plot thickens. This excursion may not be suitable for children. Please note that train robberies are not part of this excursion.

THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride (PE)

Set to the sound of the movie soundtrack, passengers relive the magic of the story as they are whisked away on THE POLAR EXPRESS™. Once on board, guests are served hot chocolate and a cookie treat. Santa will board train at the North Pole and on the return trip will walk through each car giving out the “first gift of Christmas” – a silver sleigh bell – to each child 12 years and under.

Discounts apply: only to fares paid in advance as a group of twenty (20) or more and do not apply to individuals within a group paying separately or discounted trips including THE POLAR EXPRESS and Harvest Pumpkin Fest among others.
Reservations are Recommended: Reservations can be arranged by phone using MasterCard or VISA. Seating is assigned at time of booking. We can sometimes accommodate passengers without reservations, we do sell out and a reservation guarantees seating.
Cancellation and Refund Policy: All sales are final and there are no refunds with less than 48 hours’ notice. With more than seven (7) days’ notice cancellations are refunded the amount paid less a $25 per ticket administration fee. With less than seven (7) days’ notice refunds are in the form of a gift certificate less the $25 per ticket fee. In the event an excursion is canceled or rescheduled by Alberta Prairie we will attempt to contact you, and inform you of refund, credit, or exchange procedures.
Menu Options: Over the years we have found that guests find our meal choices more than ample. As an alternative to the meat dish offered, guests can request a quality spaghetti dish with non-meat sauce. Please per-ordering at time of booking. In cases of special dietary circumstances, it is recommended that you let us know when you are making your reservation.
During the off season and on weekdays trains are available provided that you have enough people: for special charters, tours, reunions and private/public events and with enough notice private coaches can be booked for an addition fee on most regularly scheduled excursions.
