This trip lasts seven (7) hours, and travels to the Village of Big Valley and then returns to Alberta Prairie Country Hideaway at Warden Junction. This is the second of four excursions this season where guests can experience two destinations in one day. Somewhere on route there is a fare likelihood that the train will be halted, and passengers robbed by the infamous Reynolds Raiders. The stop in the Village of Big Valley will be approximately one hour and one-half long. Time for the engine crew to top up the tender water and service the steam locomotive and guests to visit Jimmy Jock Boardwalk and All That Buzz right next door, and to explore the fully restored 1912 Canadian Northern railway station, the McAlister Motors community museum, and the Big Valley Hand-tool and Collectables Museum before boarding the train for the journey on to the Country Hideaway. On arrival guests can start exploring this beautiful natural park setting or head into the food service area to pickup a full course buffet style roast turkey dinner before heading off to do their exploring. The stop at the Hideaway offers an opportunity to go on a hayride, take a nature walk, enjoy inside and/or outside dining, take a children’s barrel train, play old-time carnival games, or cheer on rubber ducky races.
